"An Afternoon in Old Prague" with Orin Grossman and Friends

鈥淎n Afternoon in Old Prague鈥 with Orin Grossman and Friends features chamber music by the great Romantic composer Antonin Dvo艡谩k at 3 p.m., Sunday, January 26, 2014, at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts. This concert highlights the music of the most gifted composer of 19 th -century Prague and features Dvo艡谩k鈥檚 鈥淧iano Quartet, Opus 87鈥 and 鈥淧iano Quintet, Opus 81.鈥 Joining Orin Grossman on piano are Daniel Phillips and Katherine Fong on violin , Dov Scheindlin on viola, and Michael Haber on cello . Tickets are $35 and $30.

Orin Grossman came to 香港六合彩挂牌 in 1975 as an Assistant Professor of Fine Arts.聽 In 1991, he was named Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. After ten years as the Academic Vice President at 香港六合彩挂牌, he returned to the faculty in the fall of 2009 as Professor of Visual and Performing Arts and is now Professor Emeritus.聽 He has been active as a chamber music performer including the co-founder, with violinist Yuval Waldman, of the Round Hill Chamber Players. 聽聽He has been particularly associated with the music of George Gershwin, lecturing and performing concerts of his song transcriptions, and classical pieces to critical praise around the world, including performances in Cairo, New York, Florence, and St. Petersburg, Russia.聽 In demand as a lecturer and recitalist, he is a frequent star professor for 鈥淥ne Day University鈥, a premiere lecture organization, giving talks in New York City, Philadelphia, and other locales. Orin Grossman graduated Magna cum Laude in Music from Harvard College and earned a Ph.D. in Music at Yale University.

Daniel Phillips , violin, is a founding member of the 26-year-old Orion String Quartet, in residence at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. They recently played a week of concerts devoted to Brahms at the new King Place Concert Hall in London. Katherine Fong, violin, has been a member of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra since 2000. 聽She leads a multifaceted existence as an orchestral musician, chamber musician, soloist, entrepreneur, and mother. Dov Scheindlin has been violist of the Arditti, Penderecki and Chester String Quartets.聽 His chamber music career has brought him to 28 countries around the globe, and won him the Siemens Prize in 1999. Cellist Michael Haber , a student of Janos Starker and Gregor Piatigorsky, is a former member of The Cleveland Orchestra under George Szell, the Casals Festival Orchestra under Pablo Casals and was the principal cellist of The Colorado Music Festival Orchestra
