Join the Dialogue on Syria, Thurs., Nov. 14

Join the conversation on the Syrian civil war on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the BCC lower level.

The civil war in Syria has its roots in sectarian loyalties, fueled by an autocratic dictator and neighboring countries with diverging agendas. The result of the almost-three-year conflict has been a laundry list of humanitarian crises: an enormous refugee problem, deaths due to lack of food and medicine, reports of torture, and the use of chemical weapons.  This dialogue between the expert panel and students will help increase awareness and deepen the discussion about one of the most pressing humanitarian emergencies in the world today.

Panelists include Drs. David McFadden and Silvia Marsans-Sakly, history, and Dr. Marcie Patton, politics. A representative from Save the Children will also present. The discussion was spearheaded by Kaneez Fatema Anwar’15, Emma Cannon ’14, Kaitlyn Cocuzzo ‘17, Brianna Cucozzo ‘17 and Anne O’Neill ’18 and sponsored by the Muslim Student Association and Jesuit Universities Humanitarian Action Network (JUHAN) housed in the Center for Faith and Public Life.  All members of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ community are invited to attend, and light refreshments will be served.  This is an FYE event.
