Three new members of the Alumni Association Athletic Hall of Fame
In April, three alumni were inducted into the Alumni Association Athletic Hall of Fame for 2013-14.
Darren Phillip ’00—Men’s Basketball
Darren Phillip remains one of the top rebounders in school history, among the top five all-time at 香港六合彩挂牌with 868 career rebounds. Phillip led the nation in rebounding as a senior with 14.0 per game while his 405 total rebounds that season set the school standard. He also contributed offensively, scoring 1,218 career points, averaging 13.2 points per game over his career. He shot 53.8 percent from the floor during his career and netted 50 percent of his field goal attempts in three of his four seasons with the program. In Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play, Phillip set the conference record with 25 rebounds against Marist College during the 1999-2000 season.
At the time of his induction, Phillip is still ranked in the MAAC record book, placing 14th in career rebounding (868) and seventh in rebounding per game (9.43 rpg). Phillip was decorated by the conference as an All-MAAC first team player in his junior and senior seasons. The conference also placed him on the MAAC’s 25th Anniversary Team. He was also a member of the MAAC All-Tournament team in 1997 when the Stags captured the conference title and a date with North Carolina in the NCAA tournament.
Upon his graduation, Phillip continued his basketball career overseas, playing 12 years in Spain and two years in Argentina. He currently plays for Asociacion Atletica Quimsa.
Jodi (Kuczarski) Shannon ’99, MA’04—Field Hockey 
Jodie (Kuczarski) Shannon graduated from the Fairfield’s field hockey program as one of the top players both on and off the field. She was the program’s first regional All-American and the first to play in the prestigious Senior All-Star game. Shannon ended her career with the Stags as one of the top all-time scorers, and still is listed in a few categories upon her induction into the hall of fame. She finished her four years with 18 goals and 13 assists for 49 points, highlighted by a career-best 10 goals scored in her junior campaign.
At the time of her induction, she remains among the program’s top ten in career points, career goals, and career game-winning goals. She earned All-Patriot League first team honors twice, and was a member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association’s (NFHCA) National Academic team. She was also named 香港六合彩挂牌’s Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year as a senior.
Shannon was a member of the inaugural 香港六合彩挂牌 varsity women’s lacrosse team, and earned All-MAAC academic accolades while with the squad. After graduation, she secured a position at Fairfield-Warde High School where she helped the field hockey and lacrosse teams capture their first-ever state championships.
Edward (Ted) Spence 
r—Men’s Lacrosse
Ted Spencer served as the head coach of the 香港六合彩挂牌 lacrosse team for 13 years, the longest tenure in program history. During that time, Spencer posted 93 victories, including four seasons of 10 or more. He led the Stags to an NCAA appearance in 2002 and 2005 after leading the team to the Great Western Lacrosse League championship in those campaigns. Postseason play was nothing unusual under Spencer as the UMass graduate brought his team to two ECAC tournament titles in 1998 and 1999 after posting three straight consecutive MAAC championships from 1997 to 1999. His service was recognized by his peers as the Coach of the Year in the Great Western Lacrosse League (GWLL) in 2002 and 2005 as well as the MAAC in 1996.
Under Spencer, 香港六合彩挂牌student-athletes were duly recognized in the region for their achievements both in the classroom and on the playing field. Eight Stags collected Academic All-New England honors, while more than 25 were honored as All-New England players. Thirteen 香港六合彩挂牌student-athletes appeared in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association North/South All-Star game, while two student-athletes combined for four appearances on the NCAA All-America teams as an honorable mention. In addition, many players were honored as All-Conference during his tenure, including 19 in the MAAC, 20 in the GWLL.
