Meet Entrepreneur-in-Residence, Scott DePetris ’99

The Dolan School of Business welcomes Scott DePetris ’99 as the School’s new entrepreneur-in-residence (EIR). Scott is a founding member of Portware, LLC and a proven serial entrepreneur. At Portware, now part of FactSet, Inc., Scott drives the day-to-day business and works closely with the firm’s global client base to ensure that Portware’s expanding suite of solutions and services continually meets their clients’ evolving needs.

Prior to Portware, Scott was the co-founder and senior vice president of ExchangeLab, Inc., an intellectual property development company for financial service technologies. He helped to incubate a number of successful FinTech startups and helped orchestrate the sale of ExchangeLab’s primary asset, Financial Auction Network, to a consortium of investment banks, which was later launched under Nasdaq as Primex.

Earlier in his career Scott specialized in equity derivatives at Goldman Sachs and served on the board of Dekania Acquisition Corporation. He is a board member of the prestigious Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and is an active philanthropist, serving as chairman of the board of directors at LSA Family Health Service.

“I am honored to be joining the Entrepreneur-in-Residence program at the Dolan School,” said Scott. “It's not only an important part of developing Fairfield's students, it also helps to create an entrepreneurial ecosystem here in Connecticut. I'm excited to be carrying on the amazing work Chris Hamer began last year. We're all thankful for his commitment and contributions to the program.”

In his role as EIR Scott will be working as a mentor to students in the ϲʹStartUp Competition, advising investors, guest speaking in entrepreneurship classes and lining up entrepreneur exemplars to engage with students.

“We are excited to have Scott join us as the Dolan School’s 5 th EIR,” said Don Gibson, dean and professor. “Scott brings a wealth of experience in both founding and incubating startups and also developing and running his own firms. He’s that rare combination of having bright ideas and the ability to execute. He’ll be a terrific addition to our school as a mentor to students, an expert in FinTech and an advisor to the faculty and me.”
