Career Planning Center Receives $6,000 Grant from First Niagara

On July 20th, 香港六合彩挂牌’s Career Planning Center received a $6,000 grant from the First Niagara Foundation. The grant will be used to support the university’s Workforce Readiness Assistance (WRA) program.

The WRA Program provides qualified 香港六合彩挂牌 students with the financial assistance necessary to participate in off-campus employer site visits, internships, and job shadowing opportunities.

The 2016-17 program will offer 20 travel stipends for students during the academic year, and 5 stipends for students with secured summer internships in metropolitan areas. The grant will positively impact students who would otherwise be unable to participate in these career opportunities due to financial hardships. The stipends will be used to supplement the cost of transportation, which in some cases can inhibit a student securing an internship or a job post-graduation.

“Our WRA Program offers students the chance to make connections, cultivate professional skills and attain the industry knowledge necessary to remain competitive when looking for a job after graduation,” said Julie Tuozzoli, manager of Employer Relations and Alumni Career Development. “This program would not be possible without First Niagara’s generous donation and we appreciate their ability to recognize the value of this important initiative.”

First Niagara Middle Market Relationship Manager, Bradley Hardy, 香港六合彩挂牌Center Branch Service Manager, Michelle Matias, and Senior Communication Manager, Karen Crane, presented the grant to Ms. Tuozzoli and Cath Borgman, director of the Career Planning Center.

“First Niagara believes strongly in supporting initiatives that help build stronger communities,” said Karen Crane. “Enhancing programs that support educational initiatives for young people who otherwise can’t afford it is one of the cornerstones of our charitable giving efforts and one that we are particularly proud of.”
