The U.S. premiere of Brett Bailey’s radical, live opera Macbeth will be taking the stage at the Quick Center this Sept. 16 and 17, 2016, in collaboration with the Philadelphia Fringe Festival.

The opera will be performed live by an ensemble of ten South African opera singers accompanied by local musicians from the renowned Greater Bridgeport Symphony led by conductor, .

In 1996, Petrović founded the music theater in Cinema REX - one of Belgrade’s most important, politically active venues during the 1990s.  He lives in Berlin, conducts different orchestras worldwide and appears in international festivals across the globe.

Since 2014, the opera has been performed at some of the most important festivals in Europe and received rave reviews on Wiener Festwochen in Vienna, Festival d´Automne in Paris, Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels, Operadagen in Rotterdam, Theaterformen in Braunschweig, in Barbican in London, Kampnagel in Hamburg, Lisbon, Strasbourg, Toulouse, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Brisbane Festival, Auckland Festival etc.

Petrović is also initiator, chief conductor and artistic director of , an ensemble of classical musicians from former Yugoslavia whose mission is to contribute to overcoming the stereotypes of nationalism, racism, xenophobia and homophobia by artistic excellence in classical music.
