“Wall Street Top 50” Kathleen Murphy ’84 will give Dolan Lecture, Nov. 10

ϲʹ graduate , will return to her alma mater on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. to deliver an address entitled, “Lessons in Leadership, A Conversation with Kathleen Murphy,”  as part of the Dolan School of Business’ Dolan Lecture Series

President of Personal Investing — a Fidelity Investments company that provides retail brokerage, mutual funds, managed accounts, annuities and other financial products and services — Murphy also oversees Fidelity’s life insurance and annuities business, as well as its workplace savings business for tax-exempt organizations, all of the firm’s brand and advertising programs, its online strategies through Fidelity.com and Fidelity’s mobile device applications.  

“The Dolan Lecture features highly accomplished, visionary and internationally recognized business leaders as exemplars for our students, and I can think of no one who better fits this vision than Kathleen Murphy,” said Don Gibson, dean of the Dolan School of Business, “she’s an example of taking a ϲʹeducation and becoming an impactful leader with that foundation.”

Murphy earned her bachelor of arts degree, summa cum laude, in economics and political science from ϲʹand later received her juris doctor degree with highest honors from the University of Connecticut.

Beyond her work with Fidelity, Murphy sits on the Board of Governors of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the Board of Directors of the Markle Foundation, the Board of Directors of America’s Promise Alliance and the Board of Directors of the National Football Foundation.

Murphy’s professional achievements have earned her nationwide recognition, repeatedly being named one of the “50 Most Powerful Women in American Business” by  Fortune magazine, one of the “Wall Street Top 50” and “Business 100” by  Irish America magazine and named as one of the “25 Most Powerful Women in Finance” by  US Banker,  among other honors.

The Dolan Lecture is free and open to the public and will take place at the Kelley Theatre at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts. Students should register on OrgSync.
