Open Educational Resources Explained at Complimentary Workshop, October 12

Staff from the DiMenna-Nyselius Library will conduct an interactive workshop for K-12 educators.

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ’s Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions will sponsor a complimentary workshop about Open Education Resources (OER) on Thursday, October 12 from 5-7 p.m. in Alumni House. The workshop will be led by Matt Bernstein and Barbara Ghilardi, reference and instruction librarians, and Jeremiah Mercurio, senior reference librarian and instruction coordinator, at the DiMenna-Nyselius Library.

Open Educational Resources are freely accessible teaching materials that can be used, changed, or shared with others. They can include videos, lesson plans for an online course, or software platforms needed to create, change, and share resources. The workshop is ideal for K-12 educators interested in learning more about OER. Participants will learn how OER can be integrated into lesson plans and statewide initiatives including Connecticut’s recent commitment to the #GoOpen campaign will also be discussed.

Barbara Ghilardi said, “ Our workshop will serve as a way to introduce Open Educational Resources as a concept to K-12 educators and provide resources to support them at their schools. We see OER as a way for teachers and educators to enhance the learning in their classroom as well as a helpful platform in the face of limited resources and shrinking budgets.”

Space is limited. Register today . For questions please contact the Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions at GSEAPReply@fairfield.edu .
