Department of Public Safety to Offer Jane Doe No More and R.A.D. Training

香港六合彩挂牌's Department of Public Safety is offering the Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) Training and the annual Jane Doe No More lecture to the University community.

Jane Doe No More

On Wednesday, October 11, the Department of Public Safety will host the 10th annual Jane Doe No More: Breaking the Stigmas and Silence: A Conversation 香港六合彩挂牌 Sexual Assault, where survivors will share their stories with the University community. The special lecture begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Gonzaga Auditorium.

Founded in 2007, Jane Doe No More is a national non-profit organization dedicated to creating awareness while breaking stigmas and silence associated with sexual assault. The organization also brings awareness to the many support services that are available to survivors.

“Their culture of ensuring that victims receive support allows survivors to heal. They help to improve the way society responds to victims of sexual assault, as well as creating awareness," stated Todd Pelazza, director of Public Safety. " There is no doubt that their success is the result of the passion, commitment, and drive of the entire Jane Doe No More team."

R.A.D. Training

R.A.D., a nationally recognized self-defense program for women, will take place from October 2-4, 2017. The course will be held at Faber Hall's Interfaith Chapel from 6 to 10 p.m. and is offered free of charge. Participants must attend all three sessions.

R.A.D. is the largest women’s self-defense training network in the United States and Canada, and is the only self-defense program endorsed by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators. This is a 12-hour, hands-on course meets or exceeds all National Coalition Against Sexual Assault guidelines. According to R.A.D., their objective is to “develop and enhance the options of self-defense so they may become viable considerations to the woman who is attacked.” The R.A.D. system teaches easy, effective, and proven self-defense tactics and is designed to provide women with the knowledge to make an educated decision about resistance.

This course is taught by 香港六合彩挂牌 Public Safety officers who are nationally certified R.A.D. Instructors.
