The College of Arts and Sciences’ School of Communication, Arts, and Media is hosting an inaugural alumni panel and social for students on Tuesday, January 30, from 7 – 9 p.m. in the Barone Campus Center Dogwood Room. The four featured panelists will discuss their transition from college to career and explain how a liberal arts education helped them achieve their professional goals.

From public relations professionals to digital managing editors, the panelists represent a wide breadth of careers and bring together alumni and students from each of the School of Communication, Arts and Media’s four departments: Communication, Visual and Performing Arts, English, and Modern Languages and Literatures. The panelists include Kate Dillon ‘08, vice president of Prosek Partners public relations firm; Ben Doody '07, managing editor of Heavy.com; Melody Serafino ’05, founder of No. 29 Communications firm; and Carmen Rita Wong ’93, author and founder/CEO of Malecon Productions.

“These four alumni reflect great success stories and will share their respective journeys with our students and faculty while highlighting how their academic studies contributed in myriad ways to their career path,” said Katherine Schwab, PhD, director of the School of Communication, Arts and Media and professor of art history. “At the same time, we hope that our students will quickly discover the many connections and relationships between areas within the School of Communication, Arts, and Media, and how careers blend and merge many of these areas.
