From now until Alumni & Family Weekend, giving to the Young Alumni Challenge could help unlock $100,000 for up to four student scholarships.

Now through Alumni & Family Weekend (October 19 – 21), young alumni classes of 2009 through 2018 can participate in the Young Alumni Challenge to give back to their University and help unlock $100,000 in challenge funds from Fairfield’s Board of Trustees. If 400 young alumni participate -- with a gift of any size -- the challenge funds will be unlocked to provide the opportunity to award scholarship funds for students in need. Also, the two class years with the highest percentage of alumni participation will have a student scholarship recipient selected in their honor.

The Young Alumni Challenge was implemented to encourage recent Stag graduates to give back and increase awareness of and support for The Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆFund. Last year, 1,013 Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆyoung alumni participated with a gift, and this year the University is aiming to surpass that number and strengthen alumni participation to at least 19%. “Young alumni support is vital to this effort, and we wanted to provide an exciting challenge for them to participate in,” explained senior director of Annual Giving William Knapp. “We are fortunate to have a great group of young alumni Class Ambassadors who will help lead the charge by sharing messages about the challenge, and generating support from their peers.”

Young alumni participation is essential to Fairfield’s continued rise as a modern, Jesuit Catholic University, as alumni who give back within five years of graduation tend to do so throughout their lives. “This type of loyal support from a large number of alumni has a profoundly positive effect on the University,” said Knapp, “as the rate of alumni participation can help maintain Stag Country’s #1 ranking as the best regional University in the North.”
