Come support participants as they selflessly shave or cut their hair to support childhood cancer awareness.

On Friday, April 12, from 1 – 2:30 p.m. in the Lower Level of the Barone Campus Center, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation ϲʹChapter will be hosting its annual “Brave the Shave” event to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer. The goal this year is to raise more than $8,000 for childhood cancer research. The ϲʹChapter is more than half-way to reaching its target.

St. Baldrick’s Foundation is the largest private fundraiser of childhood cancer research in the U.S. Every chapter has an annual “Brave the Shave” event where participants raise money to sponsor volunteers who shave their heads or cut their hair at the event. Last year, Fairfield’s chapter raised approximately $10,000 and 44 students had their heads shaved in honor of children who are struggling with cancer.

“I have been involved with the St. Baldrick's organization since I was just a kid,” said Robert Stewart ’19, lead organizer for the “Brave the Shave” event. “In elementary school, the event was brought to our parish as a fundraiser where my classmates and I would shave our heads. As I grew up, it became more personal for me, and I realized that the organization is not only helpful, it’s crucial at this point in the area of research fundraising.”

The “Brave the Shave” team welcomes all volunteers, shavees, and fundraisers. For more information, or to make a donation, please visit .
