Stags Fans Set a New Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆAthletics #GivingTuesday Record

Friends of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆAthletics raised more than $83,500 for the Athletics Director’s Fund to provide essential resources for Fairfield’s almost 500 student-athletes.

On December 1, 2020, supporters of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆAthletics set a #GivingTuesday record, donating more than $83,500 to the Athletics Director’s Fund in support of the University’s close to 500 student-athletes. These funds will be directly invested to provide student-athletes with critical support to prepare them for success in their studies and their sport.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support of our Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆStags community, especially as so many are experiencing challenges,” said Nick Wormley, director of Athletics Development/senior associate director of Athletics. “These funds will provide student-athletes with needed PPE, support for mental health initiatives and services, and virtual retreats to promote team bonding and cohesiveness.”

#GivingTuesday is a philanthropic initiative that encourages individuals to use their time, talent, and treasure to better communities around the world. This year, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆAthletics participated in the #GivingTuesday to raise funds for the Athletics Director’s Fund which is invested to support every aspect of the student-athlete experience. Over the last 10 years, donors have raised more than $650,000 for the Athletics Director’s Fund, and this year, Athletics set a goal to raise $65,000 on #GivingTuesday to ensure every student-athlete has a championship-caliber experience. With the support of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆcommunity, this goal was far exceeded.

For those who would still like to take part in this season of giving by helping Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆstudent-athletes remain safe, healthy, and active as they prepare to return to competition, please visit to make a year-end by December 31, 2020.
