Bernice Pan, PhD, founder of pioneering British clothing brand DEPLOY, will share her ideas for reforming the apparel  industry through sustainable fashion.

ϲʹ’s Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts and the Charles F. Dolan School of Business will welcome Bernice Pan, PhD as part of the Open VISIONS Forum series on Tuesday, October 27 at 5 p.m. for a virtual presentation and panel discussion titled “True Value: Can Fashion Reform Consumerism?”

Panelists will include Suzanne Nemec, former marketing executive for architecture and interiors firms, arts patron, and Quick Center Advisory Board member, and Pina Ferlisi, who was most recently the executive vice president of Luxury Brands and chief creative director for Henri Bendel, NYC.

Bernice Pan, PhD is the founder of the British sustainable fashion brand DEPLOY. With a lifelong dedication to designing and styling clothes and furniture, Dr. Pan holds a master's degree from the Royal College of Art and a doctorate in fashion design process and supply chain customization from Brunel University in London.

Based on the concepts and business model developed in her doctoral thesis, Dr. Pan launched DEPLOY in 2006. In 2018, the company was singled out as “a champion of sustainable style” and “the working woman’s ideal go-to for chic, sustainable pieces” in a Glamour magazine feature about sustainable fashion.

Dr. Pan described her business in an April 2020 Glamour article as “a blueprint for reforming the fashion system with thorough sustainability and equality; piloting a holistic business model with thoughtful design, environmental sourcing, zero-waste supply chain, responsive retailing, specialist renewal service and charity partnerships.”

In her presentation on October 27, Dr. Pan will explain how we can each elect to create a positive impact — and collectively improve our society and environment — through a fashion reformation.

“True Value: Can Fashion Reform Consumerism?” with Bernice Pan, PhD is a premier Quick Center event and will take place in virtual format on October 27 at 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 and available at . As with all Open VISIONS Forum lectures, tickets are free for ϲʹ students, faculty, and staff.
