The DiMenna-Nyselius Library invites students, faculty, staff, and alumni to challenge stereotypes and prejudices by participating in the Human Library event, a worldwide movement.

This fall marks another opportunity to take part in the Human Library event, hosted by the DiMenna-Nyselius Library. The Human Library is a worldwide movement for social change that challenges stereotypes based on race, religion, sexual orientation, class, gender identity, lifestyle choices, disability or other aspects of life. This year the event will be offered in two formats — in-person at the Library and online — on Wednesday, November 10 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. and from 2 to 4 p.m.

During the event, people volunteer to be "human books" that "readers" from the campus community can talk to and hear stories from. Conversations are structured to allow for one-on-one dialogue between human books and readers. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni interested in sharing their story can sign up to be a book now through October 15, 2021 at fairfield.edu/humanlibrary. Please note that alumni will be asked to participate via the online format only. This event satisfies an FYE THRIVE credit.
