A Quick Center screening of Verdi's opera, Nabucco, will take place on Jan. 6, 2024

Upcoming world-renowned Metropolitan Opera performances at the Quick Center include a mix of directorial debuts, contemporary adaptations, and classic repertory favorites.

The Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts is thrilled to continue its presentation of award-winning Metropolitan Opera programming through The Met: Live in HD, which features live and encore opera transmissions, special interviews, and behind-the-scenes features – all from the comfort of the Quick’s Kelley Theatre.

The Quick Center is the only venue in Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆCounty to offer access to these stellar productions. The Met: Live in HD’s upcoming Quick Center screenings include:

Daniel Catán’s Florencia en el Amazonas

Sung in Spanish and inspired by the magical realism of Gabriel García Márquez, Mexican composer Daniel Catán’s 1996 opera focuses on an opera diva, Florencia Grimaldi, who returns to her native Brazil to perform and to search for her lost lover, who has vanished into the jungle.

Verdi’s Nabucco

Ancient Babylon comes to life in this classic Met staging of biblical proportions. Baritone George Gagnidze stars as the imperious King Nabucco, alongside soprano Liudmyla Monastyrska, reprising her thrilling turn as his vengeful daughter Abigaille. 

Bizet’s Carmen

Acclaimed English director Carrie Cracknell makes her Met debut, reinvigorating the classic story of deadly passion with a staging that moves the action to the present day, amid a band of human traffickers.

Verdi’s La Forza del Destino

Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts this production, with stellar soprano Lise Davidsen, following a string of recent Met triumphs, in her role debut as the noble Leonora. Director Mariusz Treliński delivers the company’s first new Forza in nearly 30 years, setting the scene in a contemporary world.

Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette

Two singers at the height of their powers—soprano Nadine Sierra and tenor Benjamin Bernheim—come together as the star-crossed lovers in Gounod’s Shakespeare adaptation, with Yannick Nézet-Séguin on the podium to conduct one of the repertoire’s most romantic scores.

Puccini’s La Rondine

Puccini’s bittersweet love story makes a rare Met appearance, with soprano Angel Blue starring as the sophisticated French courtesan Magda, opposite tenor Jonathan Tetelman in his company debut as Ruggero, an idealistic young man who offers her an alternative to her life of excess.

Puccini’s Madama Butterfly

Tuesday, May 21, 2024 | 1 p.m. | 12 p.m. Pre-Screening Talk
In her Met debut, Asmik Grigorian tackles the demanding role of Cio-Cio-San, the trusting geisha at the heart of Puccini’s tragedy. Tenor Jonathan Tetelman is the callous American naval officer Pinkerton whose betrayal destroys her.

Live 2024 opera transmissions at the Quick will feature insightful pre-screening talks by Professor Emeritus Orin Grossman, PhD, and Michael Ciavaglia, DMA, co-director of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ’s Music Program. During these introductory conversations, Dr. Grossman and Dr. Ciavaglia will offer tips on “things to listen for” in each opera performance and recommend ways to enhance the audience experience. 

Tickets are now on sale at for $35 for each performance, $30 for seniors, and $25 for Quick Members.
