The Sixth-Year Certificate in Special Education is an advanced professional degree for experienced Special Educators who hold a Master’s degree and wish to deepen and expand their knowledge of teaching and learning.

By completing the required curriculum for a Sixth-Year Certificate in special education, students will achieve the preparation required by the Connecticut State Department of Higher Education, the Connecticut State Department of Education, and the Council for Exceptional Children.

Get paid to hone your skills.

Students in the Special Education Sixth-Year Certificate program have the opportunity to secure paid teaching internships during the fall and spring semesters. Through these experiences, students can gain hands-on experience before completing their studies.
