Community Collaboration

The School of Education and Human Development values community relationships that are consistent with its mission and contribute to community engagement, student learning, and faculty development. Opportunities include collaborations with local schools and community agencies that house student fieldwork and internship placements, service-learning projects, and applied research programs.

Through the formation of partnerships, we work to deepen our relationship with individual schools and agencies in ways that are mutually beneficial, sustainable, and that facilitate transformational growth for all involved. Through these relationships, we strive to provide a structure for professional dialogue, the sharing of ideas, and the development of new initiatives across organizations.

The Connecticut Writing Project

The Connecticut Writing Project at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ, affiliated with the National Writing Project, focuses on enhancing students' writing skills and supporting teacher development. It offers programs like Young Writers Institutes, Urban Teacher Institutes, and Writers Retreats. Designated a Center for Excellence, CWP/Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆis recognized as a leading effort in improving composition instruction nationwide.

FCHC Scholars Program

The Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆ Collaborates for a Healthier Connecticut (FCHC) Scholars Program is a year-long fellowship program that provides $10,000 stipends, interprofessional education, and specialized internship training in integrated, team-based care to competitively-selected behavioral health graduate students. Participants in the program are in their final year of internship in select behavioral health master’s programs at Fairfield.
