Stags to Celebrate 50 Years of Women’s Varsity Athletics This Sunday at Mahoney Arena

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆWomen’s Basketball hosts Fordham at 2 p.m.

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆAthletics will celebrate 50 years of women’s varsity athletics this Sunday, Dec. 10, at Leo D. Mahoney Arena. The event includes a noon reception in the Diffley Club upstairs at the arena, followed by Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆWomen’s Basketball hosting Fordham at 2 p.m.

The 1973-74 women’s basketball team was “officially” a club program, but competed against several varsity programs, with the intention of joining the varsity ranks in the following season. That 1974-75 team entered NCAA Division III and went a perfect 16-0 to begin the storied history of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÒÅÆWomen’s Basketball and Women’s Athletics at the NCAA varsity level.
